Earthquake shakes Algarve/Portugal

Bishop palace and city hall in Faro (openPR) - today around 10:36 clock shook an earthquake with a strength of 5,8 on the judge scale the Algarve. The Epizentrum was appropriate for 160 km southwest of the Cabo S. Vicente/Sagres in the Atlantic. Damage was so far not reported. However was clearly noticeable quake, so that for example in Faro and Portimão some persons left escape-like Cafés and business. Several schools were evacuated as a precaution.

Also in the Alentejo and in Spain the earth trembled. A Nachbeben at 11.50 o'clock with a strength from 2,5 became from the population does not wahrgenenommen. To the Algarve were there last to 29.08.2006 an earthquake with the strength 3,2. The today's quake is that strongest for 30 years in continental Portugal.
