In the forest economics and ecology go hand in hand
(openPR) - the appreciation of wood does not only experience at present one Renaissance, as modern building material or as fuel. A broad spectrum at Hightech products opens besides undreamt-of possibilities. With the increasing range of application the demand for the raw material rises and feeds thereby also the fears whether the lastingness is still secured in German forestry in the future.
The results of the federal forest stocktaking II (www.bundeswaldinventur.de) can weaken this concern. However in the old Lands of the Federal Republic the forest surface increased within 15 years by a surface, which corresponds to approximately 100,000 football fields. The wood increase is used however only to approximately two thirds, why the supply, century towers rose to the defiance, on 3.4 billion cubic meter. As consequence from it Germany is today the wood-richest country of Europe, still before the typical Scandinavian Waldländern.
Also in things quality is the German forest pointed. The nature protection priority increased, as a high portion of mixed woodland of 75 per cent or an important portion of old trees occupies.
Specialists are not surprised at this development, because long-term planning has tradition in the forests. German forestry is for this world-wide not in vain recognized. Competent forest people and conscious owners of forest, which understand their property as generation contract, are with a lasting and pfleglichen forestry guarantors for the fact that economics and ecology go hand in hand.
The climatic change with storms and drynesses represents a large challenge. For the goal of keeping and still more resistant of developing the domestic forests vital, an intensive care is necessary.
Wood use is active climatic protection
The forests bind enormous quantities of carbon. The trees „breathe “the climatic poison CO2 .regelrecht. A durable CO2-Senkenwirkung is however only reached by the use of the wood: Harvested and afterwards processed wood stores carbon over the entire service life of the wood products and new CO2-hungrige trees can be after-planted.
For these reasons the intensified Waldnutzung and wood use which can be observed are not only economicalally meaningful, but also a requirement of the hour, if it concerns to retain our climate and to make our forests fit for the future.
