RFID - Transparency and confidence

(openPR) - in the context of the project Ko-RFID („efficient Kollaboration in RFID - supported creation of value nets “), promoted by the Federal Ministry for economics and technology, several research institutions and enterprises co-operate in the evaluation of the employment of RFID technology in enterprise-spreading networks. The institutes for economical informatics of the Humboldt university are involved to Berlin and the petrol of Guericke University of Magdeburg, the range logistics DO Berlin as well as the practice partners of the GERRY WEBERS internationally AG, Gustav waving man GmbH & CO. Kg, DaimlerChrysler AG and SAP AG, represent by the research department SAP Research. Ko-RFID is divided into several research projects, in which information-technical applications of the RFID technology under economic and technical criteria are evaluated.

In the first subproject incentive and aspects of confidence are examined, which play a participation-decision relevant role with enterprise-spreading RFID supported creation of value networks. The success of Kollaborationsinitiativen in creation of value networks depends to a considerable degree on to what extent economic incentives and confidence can be brought into the respective creation of value partners an appropriate relationship. Regarded therefore also the effects of existing making and dependence structures are turned around on the use of the technology and.

Earlier research work showed that increased information exchange between the participants can increase the total output of a creation of value system crucially. For example an improved information flow can lead to a reduction of safety stock amounts and turn-around times and represent by it the first step for further process making within many ranges of the delivery chain. Particularly in industries with strongly varying and/or uncertain demand this can lead finally to substantial efficiency gains.

Win Win situations do not come off with pure information exchange however inevitably. Therefore the question arises, how increased information exchange can be arranged both organizational and system internally in such a way that the parties involved receive sufficiently incentives for using together RFID supported creation of value systems.

The analysis of co-ordination mechanisms in supply and distribution networks cannot get along without a thorough view of the respective markets, from which the negotiating positions of the different participants result. Thus in co-operation with the practice partners theoretical concepts are based on practical yardsticks. The won realizations serve as basis for the work in the other subprojects, in particular for the requirement analysis of the standards and systems which can be developed.

Over Ko-RFID:
The Federal Ministry for economics and technology (BMWi) promotes NEXT generation in the context of the research program „media “the research center Ko-RFID „efficient Kollaboration in RFID supported creation of value nets “. The research consortium form: Gerry weber AG, Daimler Chrysler AG, Gustav waving man GmbH & CO. Kg, SAP AG, technical University of Berlin range logistics, Humboldt university to Berlin as well as the petrol of Guericke university Magdeburg. The project promoted with altogether five million euro is started and runs first three years.

In the context of the research center Ko-RFID the Kollaborationspotential for the RFID technology is identified and evaluated. In particular thereby the common use of an RFID infrastructure and a IT and logistics services based on it is examined by partners of the creation of value chain. Kollaboration means the co-operation of the enterprises, from the supplier, in this connection over Logistikdienstleister, to the manufacturer, until into the selling, use the RFID technology.
